Plato®Wood

Plato is a revolutionary thermo treatment which dramatically improves the stability and durability of wood.

Standard non-durable softwood and hardwood species from sustainable sources are upgraded into a product of greater performance and consistency, through a process which does not involve any chemicals and uses very little energy.

Due to its patented two stage process, Plato Wood is much less brittle than other thermo treated woods, so larger sections (up to 110x210mm) are easily available and also simpler to plane to any profiles. This allows specifiers to enjoy complete freedom of design, without having to compromise on performance or environment friendliness.

Plato®Wood is cheaper and more available than rare hardwoods. It requires no maintenance and its improved stability and durability are consistent throughout the whole product – unlike common surface pressure treatments. These benefits have allowed Plato®Wood to be incorporated into a broad range of projects, such as cladding, decking, fencing and even civil construction, with direct ground and water contact.

Plato®Wood’s impressive performance means you now have an ecologically sound alternative to rare hardwoods and chemically treated softwoods for your external projects. By using Plato®Wood you can reduce your environmental footprint and the pressure on declining stocks of high quality timber.
